Vegetarian Dog Treats

I have already taken my 18 y/o otherwise healthy dog (poodle shitzu mix, fm) to the vet for this before. They didn’t know exactly what it was but treated the symptoms and it healed up fine, but it’s coming back for another round now.

Basically she gets these little strange random warts, then they become little scabs, which some of them get bigger and bigger and little do you know there is a raging infection going on and they ooze (sorry but yes it’s gross). Some got to the size of quarter and merged with other ones creating huge scabs across her back, which were all infected underneath.

They sedated her so she wouldn’t feel pain, shaved and scraped everything off, she was raw, to which I applied daily cream to and administered antibiotics. Healed great, but now has more bumps and a few are now small infected scabs again so I’m taking her in for them to clean it up again.

Otherwise she is very strong, energetic, happy & comfortable, acts like none of this bothers her, and loves every day. Anyone know what her condition might be?

In older times, some 30 years ago, dipping dogs with demodectic mange in motor oil was a popular home remedy. Skin exposure to motor oil can cause rashes and skin destruction in severe cases. The hydrocarbons can be absorbed through the skin and cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. If motor oil is licked off the coat, resultant vomiting can lead to aspiration of motor oil into the lungs and pneumonia. Kidney and liver damage can result from motor oil dipping."

So you should NEVER use motor oil, there are other treatments that are proven and safe. I’m sure you didn’t know this, so thanks for trying to help anyways
